The "LOL" maybe goes a bit fast. I like it though.
Damn you for being so talented! I can never do that whole 8-bit flavor quite right...

Eh? Really? Well than either you have more natural ability or a lot more time. I typically only have time on Saturdays, and even then not very long. Of course, for the first 4.5 years of my 6 year pixel career, I pixeled for games, in which quantity and fluidity is stressed much more than quality. A game designer will tell you that multiple-hundred-color stills will impress less than the 30-something color FMV intro to Kingdom Hearts for GBA. Which is totally messed up, but true.

about time... well, I work and Study. The thing is that I just pixel for my own amusement and joy, so no bosses or deadlines pushing me to do anything. besides, I do have the strong influence of the 16bit era of gaming on my works and concepts... we could say i have a strong base graphically speaking. i wonder of kids will do the same in ten years with our current 3d settings... who knows.
about games... it depends. depends mainly on the context and personal preferences of each one. most people today would not praise a hand pixeled animation in despite of a 3D based animation. why? just because they are more closer to 3D enviroments. yet our current generation grown up with the 8-16bit era of games, and then 'retro' is set as the current motto for many youngsters around 19-27 section. that's why its so common to see these tshirts with an with the Alien sprite from Space Invaders. that's why a game like Cave Story earns its reputation for these simple yet charming graphics, and that why the GBA was so sucesful bringing up all these beatiful 2D enviroments in despite of pre-rendered games(such as Tony hawk, for example).
about the FMV... I guess the big deal with that sequence is the fact that they managed to put such a smooth and readable-and credible- video sequence in a 32mb cartridge(just imagine how much space does that little sequence use, and how much the game itself uses, considering the simple mechanics of the game). I would say that a game like Tales of Phantasia in the SNES its even more impresing because it has its own intro song with lirycs and sound bits all over the game, a huge Mode7 world, lots and lots of maps that in most cases aren't tile based... everything fitted in a single 48mb cart.
Exactly. I have such an appreciation because up until maybe 7 years ago, my family was fairly broke. The first game I owned was Pokemon Silver (326 hours and 39 minutes logged, last time I checked), and I played through it wishing I could do stuff like that. I started with Clarisworks on my parents's old Mac, and then DBZ Fanart in MSPAINT when we got a computer running Windows 98. When we got our current Dell, I started experimenting with GBC/GBA ROMs and screen captures, and then, when I started experimenting with Gamemaker, I realized I couldn't just steal sprites anymore. I made my first sprite in the fourth grade and from then on, I got better until I discovered pixel art. My influnces are Pokemon, Doom, Halo, and Guilty Gear, as well as the arcade game 1942 (my first sprite was an edit of the plane).

Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.
How to make DA work for YOU! Taking an in-depth look at how to make deviantART work for you, and getting the most out of your user experience. How to get comments, watches, your work scene, commented on, critiqued, and what you have to do. These are some of the things which I have learned since joining more than 4 1/2 years ago.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
